A Breakthrough Anticipated in Taiz… Teacher Salary Funds Arrive After Months of Suffering

Yemen Monitor / Newsroom:
A government official reported this Thursday that the financial allocation for teachers’ salaries for the month of August has arrived at the Central Bank branch in Taiz Governorate, a step paving the way for the disbursement process to begin in the coming days.
The Director of the Education Office in Taiz, Abdulwasi Shaddad, confirmed in a post on his Facebook page the arrival of the financial funds and the start of technical and administrative arrangements to disburse salaries to all benefiting teachers.
This development comes after an interruption that lasted for several months, which led to growing discontent among educational staff, amidst threats of work stoppages in protest against the delay in salary payments.
The Teachers’ Union in Taiz had previously warned that the continued stoppage of salaries for three consecutive months threatens to paralyze the educational process in the governorate and deepens the living crisis for teachers and their families.
The union called on the Presidential Leadership Council and the government to quickly intervene to ensure the regular disbursement of salaries, emphasizing that this right is constitutionally guaranteed and not a favor or a reward, warning of the consequences of the delay on the educational and social situation in the governorate.
