Taiz Governor Sets Tuition Fees for Private Schools for The New Academic Year

Yemen Monitor / Newsroom:
The Governor of Taiz Province, Nabil Shamsan, issued Decree No. (137) of 2025, stipulating the registration and activity fees for private schools across all districts of the province for the 2025–2026 academic year.
The decision was made in accordance with directives from the Prime Minister’s Office and the Ministry of Education, as well as the results of a meeting held by the committee responsible for classifying private schools in Taiz. The committee divided schools into three levels based on their capabilities and educational services.
According to the decree, the annual tuition fees are set as follows:
- Level One: between 170,000 and 330,000 Yemeni riyals
- Level Two: between 160,000 and 310,000 Yemeni riyals
- Level Three: between 150,000 and 300,000 Yemeni riyals

The decision applies to all private schools from preschool through secondary education, except for schools whose current fees are lower than the specified range — such schools are not required to raise their fees. The decree also prohibits any further fee increases.
Additionally, the decision exempts the children of martyrs and the wounded from tuition fees, provided they have an official referral from the Education Office. It also imposes financial penalties on schools that violate the regulations, with fines collected for the benefit of the local authorities and refunds mandated for overcharged parents.
Governor Shamsan emphasized that the decision aims to regulate tuition fees and ensure fairness between schools and families, safeguarding students’ right to education and preventing any exploitation or excessive fee hikes.
