Yemeni Army Repels Houthi Attack East of Al Jawf

Yemen Monitor / Exclusive:
Yemeni Army forces repelled an attack launched by the Houthis this Monday morning on military positions belonging to the army in the eastern part of Al Jawf Governorate (eastern Yemen).
A military source told “Yemen Monitor” that fierce battles erupted between units of the army forces in the Sixth Military Region and the Houthis, following an attempted attack on army positions in the (Jawas sector), which extends into the eastern desert of Al Jawf Governorate and which the army recently established to stop smuggling.
The source added that the battles, in which various types of medium and heavy weapons were used, continued for hours, and the army forces were able to foil the Houthi attack.
The military source confirmed that the Houthis suffered heavy human and material losses, forcing them to retreat under intense fire. He pointed out that the attack comes after army forces managed to cut the smuggling lines that the militia was using to supply its elements with weapons.
He clarified that the recent Houthi escalation coincides with movements and mobilizations of outlaws seeking to destabilize security and incite sedition in service of the Houthi project.
