Houthi Spokesperson Reveals Negotiations with Saudi Arabia on Yemen Roadmap

Yemen Monitor / Newsroom:

The official spokesperson for the Houthi group, Mohammed Abdulsalam, revealed on Wednesday that he met with the UN Special Envoy to Yemen, Hans Grundberg, in the Sultanate of Oman to discuss the roadmap with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), the Houthi spokesperson stated that the negotiations addressed the roadmap presented to the United Nations and agreed upon with the Saudi side under Omani mediation. He described the resumption of implementing the roadmap’s provisions—particularly the humanitarian entitlements—as “essential.”

Abdulsalam also mentioned that the talks included the issue of the UN employees detained in Sana’a, in the presence of Moein Shreim, the UN official assigned to the case. He asserted that the group is ready to present evidence and documents proving that the detained workers were involved in “espionage activities under the guise of humanitarian work.”

He further expressed his group’s readiness to find “fair and just solutions” that would ensure the continued operation of humanitarian and relief organizations in line with their assigned roles, while preventing what he called the recurrence of “violations.”

Earlier, Yemen Monitor had reported on intensive negotiations between the armed Houthi group and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, held under Omani mediation, in an effort to prevent the region from sliding into a new military escalation following a series of recent Houthi threats.
