STC-Affiliated Force Arrests Former Al-Buraiqah District Director Hani Al-Yazidi in Aden
Yemen Monitor / Newsroom:
A security force affiliated with the Southern Transitional Council (STC) arrested Hani Al-Yazidi, the former director of Al-Buraiqah District, on Monday evening, following his participation in a protest march condemning the worsening living conditions and deterioration of public services in Aden.
Local sources told Yemen Monitor that Al-Yazidi was detained while taking part in a protest march in Crater District, the temporary capital, coinciding with the celebrations of the October 14 Revolution anniversary.
The sources explained that dozens of citizens took to the streets demanding improved public services, with Al-Yazidi among the participants. A security force affiliated with the STC reportedly fired live ammunition to disperse the protesters before arresting Al-Yazidi and taking him to an unknown location.
The same STC-affiliated force had arrested Ahmed Humaidan, head of the Aden Cultural Forum, a day earlier.
Aden continues to experience severe service deterioration, including worsening electricity outages, under the control of the STC.
