High-Ranking International Official Visits Aden

Nicholas von Arx, the Regional Director of the International Committee of the Red Cross, arrived in the city of Aden on a visit aimed at assessing the deteriorating humanitarian situation in Yemen and discussing ways to enhance the relief response amid escalating crises.
During his meeting at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Aden with Jamal Awad, Advisor to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, the UN official discussed mechanisms for expanding the scope of humanitarian interventions, with a focus on the health sector and providing essential resources in the most affected areas.
Von Arx affirmed the International Committee’s commitment to redoubling its efforts and allocating additional resources to support vital sectors that impact the lives of millions of Yemenis, stating: “Despite the challenges, we will continue our work to meet urgent needs, and we will not leave affected communities to face their fate alone.”
For his part, the Yemeni official emphasized the government’s commitment to facilitating the work of international organizations and removing any obstacles to their operations, while providing security and logistical coverage to ensure aid reaches remote and conflict-affected areas.
In the coming days, the Red Cross delegation is scheduled to visit several hospitals and relief centers in multiple provinces to meet with displaced families and directly assess their needs as part of the organization’s emergency response plan.
