Islah Party in Hadramout: Raid on Women’s Event in Mukalla Is a Blatant Assault, Authorities Bear Responsibility

The Yemeni Congregation for Reform (Islah) in Hadramout condemned what it described as a “blatant assault” on a women’s event organized by the party in the city of Mukalla, marking Yemen’s revolution anniversaries and the 35th anniversary of the party’s founding.
In a statement published on its official page, the party said that “members carrying Southern Transitional Council (STC) slogans stormed Andalus Hall on Saturday afternoon, September 27, 2025, and forcibly prevented the event.” It described the incident as “a barbaric and provocative act targeting a peaceful women’s activity, violating laws and constitutional rights, and restricting political freedoms.”
The statement noted that Islah leadership had informed local authorities and security agencies in advance of the event’s time and venue, and had received assurances of protection. It considered the incident a clear failure of the relevant authorities to fulfill their duties.
The party held local and security authorities responsible for the safety of its members and activities, calling for the perpetrators to be held accountable and brought to justice, while affirming its legal right to prosecute those involved.
The statement also urged various political parties and social components to condemn such practices, considering them a violation of the constitution and the law.
According to reports, a security force affiliated with the STC stormed the event, which was attended by a large number of women and social figures. The force removed national flags and banners for the occasion without presenting any official ban order, sparking outrage among participants and rights organizations.
