Al-Alimi Calls for An Effective International Coalition to Liberate Yemen from The Houthis

Yemen Monitor / Newsroom:
Yemeni Presidential Leadership Council Chairman Rashad Mohammed Al-Alimi has called for the formation of an effective international coalition to restore Yemen’s security and stability and to complete the liberation of the country from the grip of the Houthis and “terrorist groups.”
In his address to the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly, Al-Alimi said:
“Peace in Yemen cannot be begged for; it must be imposed by force,” stressing that the time has come for a collective and decisive move to end the Houthi coup and rebuild national state institutions.
He added that the Houthi militias are not just instruments of war but part of a cross-border Iranian project that threatens regional peace and international navigation. He warned of the dangers of leaving the Red Sea and vital maritime routes hostage to an armed group equipped with ballistic missiles, drones, and explosive-laden boats.
Al-Alimi affirmed that these policies have produced nothing but more violence and destruction, while giving the Houthis time and resources to expand their military arsenal with Iranian support.
He stressed that past years have proven the failure of a conflict-management policy and of granting incentives to the militias, which have resulted only in more misery and devastation, while enabling the Houthis to grow their arsenal.
He pointed out that the Houthi militias are not just a local rebel group but “a project to redraw the map of Iranian influence in the region” that threatens global maritime security. He again warned of the danger of leaving the Red Sea and international waterways at the mercy of this cross-border terrorist group armed with an advanced Iranian arsenal.
Al-Alimi also renewed Yemen’s full support for the Palestinian national authority and for a two-state solution in line with international references and the Arab Peace Initiative, expressing his appreciation for Saudi Arabia’s efforts in strengthening recognition of the Palestinian state.
The president also praised the pivotal role of the Saudi- and UAE-led Coalition to Support Legitimacy, stressing that this coalition “did not only protect the Yemeni state from collapse, but also shielded the entire region from falling into the grip of the Iranian project.”
