Yemen Monitor / Newsroom:

The Epidemiological Surveillance Department in Hadramout Coast revealed that more than one thousand confirmed and suspected cases of three epidemic diseases have been recorded since the beginning of 2025.

The department stated that the total cumulative number of cases reached 1,090 between January 1 and September 11, noting that the statistics include both confirmed and suspected cases.

The figures indicated that five deaths were recorded, all due to measles: two in the city of Mukalla, two in Al-Dis, and one among incoming cases.

According to the department, measles topped the list with 494 suspected cases, including 53 confirmed infections. Mukalla city had the highest number with 161 cases.

Dengue fever accounted for 412 suspected cases, of which 6 were confirmed, with most cases concentrated in Mukalla at 162.

As for cholera, the department reported 184 suspected cases, including 3 confirmed, with Hajar District recording the highest number at 116.

The Epidemiological Surveillance Department stressed that the recovery rate reached 99%. However, 69% of measles patients were unvaccinated, raising fears of a possible new outbreak that could particularly endanger children.
