STC Upholds Al-Zubaidi’s Recent Decisions, Calling Them Support for the Government

Yemen Monitor/Newsroom:

The Southern Transitional Council (STC) has affirmed its commitment to the recent decisions issued by its president, Aidarus al-Zubaidi, a member of the Presidential Leadership Council (PLC). The STC claims these decisions are part of an effort to support the government, enhance the presence of state institutions and agencies, and strengthen institutional work.

The official spokesman for the council said that the steps taken by Al-Zubaidi represent necessary and long-overdue reforms aimed at activating state institutions. He stressed that the STC supports all measures that can enhance the effectiveness and performance of state agencies.

The council reiterated its call for government institutions, banks, companies, and international organizations to move to the capital, Aden, confirming its readiness to provide the necessary facilities for their work. It called on the regional and international communities to support these efforts to promote security and stability.

This statement comes after the recent decisions, which included eleven appointments to government and local positions, sparked widespread controversy. Some political factions considered them an overreach of the PLC’s powers, especially as they coincided with the return of PLC Chairman Rashad al-Alimi and several members, including Major General Sultan al-Arada, to Aden.
