Saudi Relief Center Supports Education for 1,300 Students in Marib with Classrooms and School Bags

Yemen Monitor / Newsroom:

On Thursday, the Undersecretary of Marib Governorate, Abdurabbu Meftah, inaugurated eight equipped and furnished alternative classrooms for two schools for boys and girls in the Al-Jafina and Shasa’ Al-Balq displacement camps in the districts of Al-Madina and Al-Wadi. This is part of the third phase of the “Back to School” project, funded by the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre (KSrelief) and implemented by the Al-Khair Coalition for Humanitarian Relief.

In addition to the classrooms, the inauguration included the distribution of school bags and uniforms to 1,315 male and female students, a step aimed at supporting the educational process and improving the school environment for students in the targeted camps and areas.

During the event, the governorate undersecretary, accompanied by the Deputy Director of the Education Office in Marib, Abdulaziz Al-Bakri, and the Director of the KSrelief office in Marib, Abdulrahman Al-Sayari, inspected the equipment in the alternative classrooms. These included modern desks, alternative energy systems, blackboards, as well as air conditioners and electric fans to enhance the learning environment.

The third phase of the “Back to School” project includes providing 60 fully equipped alternative classrooms, in addition to distributing 6,000 school bags and 6,000 school uniforms, and furnishing 10 schools. The project also has a component to support low-income families by involving a number of women in the manufacturing and preparation of 2,000 locally made school bags, providing them with sustainable job opportunities.

The Undersecretary of Marib Governorate affirmed that these efforts reflect KSrelief’s humanitarian role in supporting the education sector, especially in areas suffering from displacement and lacking appropriate educational infrastructure. He noted that providing alternative classrooms and educational materials contributes to ensuring the continuity of the educational process for students.
