Two Girls Killed by Houthi Landmine Explosion in Al-Bayda

Yemen Monitor / Newsroom:
The Yemeni Landmine Observatory confirmed the deaths of two girls in an explosion caused by a landmine planted by Houthi militias in the Al-Ghoul area of Numan district, Al-Bayda governorate. The victims were Aisha Hussein al-Salihi, 14 years old, and Intisar Abdulrab al-Salihi, 17 years old, who were herding sheep in the area at the time.
The Observatory explained that Al-Ghoul area is heavily contaminated with landmines, with several previous incidents reported that have claimed victims—including the mother of Intisar, who was also killed by a landmine explosion several years ago.
The continued spread of landmines in Al-Bayda poses an ongoing threat to civilian lives, particularly children, who face grave risks during their daily movements in agricultural and grazing areas. The Observatory affirmed its ongoing efforts to document incidents and raise awareness of the dangers posed by landmines left behind by armed groups in Yemen.
