In the early hours of Friday, civil defense teams from the Marib Police Department successfully extinguished a massive fire that broke out at “Al-Fareed” store, which specializes in selling fabrics and furnishings, located on University Street in the city of Marib. Their swift response prevented the flames from spreading to nearby shops and buildings.
The Command-and-Control Department at Marib Police explained that it received a report about the fire and immediately dispatched civil defense teams to the site. Firefighters quickly began extinguishing the blaze and managed to bring it under control in record time.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the fire was caused by an electrical short circuit, completely destroying the store and resulting in significant material losses.
The incident also led to the injury of a civil defense member who suffered from smoke inhalation during the operation, as well as a citizen, Badi’ Haza’a Naji Al-Ameri, 27, who experienced a similar condition. Both were transferred to the hospital and are reported to be in stable condition.
Marib Civil Defense called on citizens to adhere to safety measures and follow preventive guidelines to avoid such incidents. They also stressed the importance of immediately reporting any fire to enable direct reaction and minimize damage and losses.
