UN Continues Efforts in Riyadh to Support Peace and De-escalation in Hudaidah

Mary Yamashita, the Acting Head of the UN Mission to Support the Hudaidah Agreement (UNMHA), has concluded an official visit to the Saudi capital, Riyadh, where she held intensive meetings with Saudi and Yemeni officials, as well as regional partners and accredited diplomats.

The discussions centered on exploring mechanisms to reduce military escalation in Hudaidah Governorate, ensuring civilian protection and the continued flow of humanitarian aid through the vital Red Sea ports.

A statement issued by UNMHA on Tuesday said that the visit is part of ongoing UN efforts to support the Yemeni political process and create the conditions for achieving sustainable peace in the country.

The meetings also focused on enhancing regional and international cooperation to ensure the effective implementation of the Hudaidah Agreement and making tangible progress toward resolving the Yemeni conflict.

Deliberations emphasized the importance of continued international support for Yemen’s political process, through promoting dialogue and coordinating efforts to overcome current tensions.
