Yemeni Cabinet Approves Domestic Gas Production Project in Hadramout

Yemen Monitor/Newsroom:

The Yemeni Cabinet held its regular meeting on Wednesday, chaired by Prime Minister Salem Bin Brik. The meeting focused on the latest economic, financial, and service developments, alongside security and military updates in the country.

The Cabinet reviewed the decline in the national currency’s exchange rate and its direct impact on citizens’ livelihoods, as well as efforts to regulate the banking market in coordination with the Central Bank of Yemen.

Discussions also covered ongoing arrangements to address the electricity crisis in several governorates amid increasing power outages.

On the security front, the meeting addressed the escalation of Houthi militia attacks on international shipping and the risks of issuing illegal currency. It also highlighted the security successes achieved by specialized agencies in dismantling subversive cells linked to the Houthis and other terrorist organizations.

The Cabinet approved the final agreement for a domestic gas production project in Hadramout Governorate. This comes as part of government efforts to enhance energy sources and meet local market demands.

From a political standpoint, the Cabinet discussed the outcomes of meetings held by the Head of the Presidential Leadership Council, Dr. Rashad Al-Alimi, with the Ambassadors of Japan, Sudan, and Vietnam. The government reaffirmed its commitment to peace and the restoration of the state.

The Cabinet called on the international community to increase economic support for Yemen and pressure the Houthis to cease their economic warfare and continuous violations, especially those targeting civilians and children in areas under their control.
