Landslide Cuts Off Vital International Road in Eastern Yemen

Yemen Monitor/Newsroom:

A massive landslide has severed the vital international road connecting the cities of Al-Ghaydah and Haswin in Al-Mahra governorate, eastern Yemen. This has brought traffic to a complete halt on a crucial route that also links to Mukalla.

Local sources reported that the landslide occurred in the “Andot Bend” area, just past the second tunnel in the direction of Haswin. Huge rockfalls have accumulated on the road, completely blocking vehicle passage in both directions.

Local authorities have urged residents and drivers to avoid the affected area and to use alternative routes, if available, until the debris is cleared and the path is secured.

Emergency teams are continuing their work at the site to assess the damage and expedite the rock removal process, with the aim of reopening the road and ensuring the safety of travelers and commuters.
