Yemen Monitor – Newsroom:
The head coach of Yemen’s national youth football team, Mohammed Saleh Al-Nufaie, confirmed that the first phase of the team’s training camp is focused on a comprehensive technical assessment of the players called up from various provinces—excluding players from Sanaa, who had already undergone evaluations in previous test matches.
Al-Nufaie explained that the technical staff has prepared a full training program consisting of morning and evening sessions. The morning sessions are dedicated to enhancing physical readiness and include training and recovery routines, while the evening sessions feature practical applications through friendly matches with local clubs in the capital.
He noted that on the first day of camp, the 34 players were divided into three groups that played short matches of ten minutes each, designed to reduce fatigue from travel and gradually increase the training load.
Al-Nufaie added that during the current week, several trial matches will be held against clubs from the capital, structured in three halves and three different player groups. He considers these matches a true test to assess both the technical and physical readiness of each player, emphasizing the coaching staff’s commitment to giving every player a fair opportunity to showcase their abilities.
He concluded by stressing the importance of this phase in building the national team, affirming that fair evaluation and selecting the best players is the main goal of the camp. He also highlighted that continued participation in future phases will require players to put in strong effort and prove they deserve their spot.
