Taiz Erupts in Angry Protests Over Worsening Water Crisis

Yemen Monitor/Newsroom:
Hundreds of residents in the Yemeni city of Taiz marched today in a protest in front of the governorate building, expressing their frustration over the worsening drinking water crisis that has plagued the city for a long time.
The demonstrators gathered on the main Jamal Street, holding signs and chanting slogans demanding the provision of drinking water. They loudly shouted, “Where is the water?” conveying their anger at the crisis’s persistence without effective solutions.
Protesters sharply criticized the local authorities in the governorate, holding them fully responsible for the escalating problem. They also blamed Governor Nabil Shamsan for his negligence in addressing the crisis, which is deteriorating day by day.
Taiz city has been suffering from a severe water crisis for years. Most residents rely on buying water from private tankers at high prices, while the public water network has completely collapsed in most neighborhoods of the city.
