The Public Electricity Corporation for Hadhramaut Coast (eastern Yemen) announced on Tuesday evening a sudden and widespread power outage affecting the city of Mukalla and its suburbs.
In an official statement, the corporation explained that the outage resulted from a sudden technical malfunction in the “feeder switch” for the Al-Dis Mukalla neighborhoods, specifically the Joul Al-Shifa and October districts. This caused the main generation stations to automatically go out of service.
The statement revealed that technical teams immediately began work, isolating the fault location and restarting the generation stations. This initiated a gradual restoration of electricity to the affected areas. The teams also started working on repairing the mentioned technical fault.
The corporation concluded its statement by confirming that repair efforts are still ongoing, expressing gratitude for the cooperation and patience of citizens during this emergency.
