Houthis Continue Targeting Civilians by Setting Fire to Farms in Murais, Northern Al-Dhalea

Yemen Monitor / Newsroom:

The Houthi armed group has set fire to several civilian-owned farms in the Murais area, north of Al-Dhalea province, in a new escalation targeting the livelihoods and properties of local residents.

Local sources told September Net, a news outlet affiliated with Yemen’s Ministry of Defense, that massive fires broke out early Thursday morning in the villages of Solan and Al-Rifqa, northwest of Murais. The blazes continued into the afternoon, destroying large areas of farmland and causing significant losses for farmers in the area.

The sources added that this crime is part of a series of repeated violations committed by Houthi militias against civilians in areas within their targeting range, as part of a systematic policy aimed at terrorizing residents and tightening their living conditions.

The incident has sparked anger and condemnation among the local population, who expressed deep concern over the ongoing aggressive attacks. They called on the international community and human rights organizations to intervene, protect them, and put an end to such violations.

This marks the third incident of its kind in recent weeks, amid growing calls for protection of farmers and guarantees that such assaults will not be repeated.
