Emergency Meeting in Aden to Confront Crises and a Strong Warning to Houthis Against Dragging the Country into Regional Conflicts

Yemen Monitor / Newsroom:
Rashad Mohammed Al-Alimi, head of Yemen’s Presidential Leadership Council, chaired an emergency meeting of the Economic and Humanitarian Crisis Management Committee on Wednesday at Maashiq Palace in the interim capital, Aden. The meeting discussed the latest developments amid accelerating regional escalation and the internal economic crisis.
The meeting was attended by Prime Minister and Committee Head, Dr. Salem bin Braik, Central Bank Governor Ahmed Ghaleb Al-Maabaqi, and a number of ministers and officials, including the Ministers of Foreign Affairs, Transport, and Oil, and the head of the economic team.
The meeting discussed the repercussions of the military escalation between Iran and “Israel” and its potential impact on Yemen, warning the Houthi militia against the consequences of dragging the country into destructive regional conflicts.
It affirmed that any additional hostile actions launched from Yemeni territory would lead to further crises, exacerbate the humanitarian catastrophe, and threaten food security and international waterways.
The meeting reviewed performance reports in the services and financial sectors, existing challenges in electricity and gas, and the effects of Tehran-backed Houthi attacks on oil installations and shipping vessels.
The meeting also discussed government measures to ensure national currency stability, continued salary payments, and the flow of essential goods, praising the continuous fraternal support from Saudi Arabia and the UAE for Yemen and its people.
This meeting comes at a critical time for the region, with an unprecedented war between Iran and the Israeli occupation, amidst increasing indications of a regional slide that could have far-reaching consequences, especially given Houthi statements indicating the group’s intention to enter this war by officially declaring its support for Iran.
