Yemeni Embassy in Beirut Denies Official Status of Citizen Detained on Charges of Espionage for Mossad

Yemen Monitor – Newsroom:

The Yemeni Embassy in Beirut on Thursday denied any official connection to a Yemeni citizen detained by Lebanese security forces on charges of espionage for the Israeli Mossad, confirming that he holds no diplomatic or governmental status.

In a clarifying statement, the embassy explained that the individual in question has never been part of its diplomatic or administrative staff and has not held any official position inside or outside Yemen.

The statement added that his communication with the embassy was based on unverified claims, and his case was handled according to standard procedures, with Lebanese authorities being informed of his actions.

The embassy affirmed its commitment to legal and diplomatic responsibilities and stated that it is following developments in coordination with the Lebanese authorities through official channels.

Lebanese media had reported the arrest of an “Israeli agent” holding Yemeni citizenship in Lebanon. However, Houthi-affiliated media outlets republished the story with an alternative narrative, alleging that the detainee worked for the embassy and held an official post from the internationally recognized Yemeni government.
