U.S. Statement Urges Houthis to Immediately Release International and UN Organization Staff

Yemen Monitor / Newsroom:
The U.S. Embassy in Yemen strongly condemned the continued arbitrary detention of innocent Yemeni civilians by the Houthi group.
It stated that these individuals, who work with diplomatic missions, non-governmental organizations, and United Nations agencies, remain in custody despite having committed no wrongdoing.
The embassy renewed its call for the immediate and unconditional release of these innocent Yemeni civilians, who had been working to serve their communities.
It also noted that some of the detainees have been known to remain in detention since 2021.
The statement added that the Houthi group uses intimidation tactics against the families of detainees to silence them and prevent them from seeking justice, while the U.S. Embassy continues its diplomatic efforts to secure their release.
The embassy affirmed that it will not cease pursuing these cases until all arbitrarily detained Yemenis are released.
