UN Mission: Spike in Landmine Incidents in Hudaidah During May

Yemen Monitor/Newsroom:

The United Nations Mission to Support the Hudaidah Agreement (UNMHA) reported a significant increase in landmine and unexploded ordnance (UXO) incidents in Hudaidah governorate during May.

In a statement, the mission reported four incidents that resulted in the deaths of two men and one boy, and the injury of another boy in the governorate’s districts.

According to the mission, this rise in the number of incidents and casualties, compared to April, highlights the escalating threat that landmines and UXO pose to civilian lives in Hudaidah.

In light of these developments, UNMHA urges all residents to exercise extreme caution and vigilance in areas affected by landmines and UXO, emphasizing the need to stay away from any suspicious objects and report them immediately to the competent authorities.
