Human Rights Association Demands Release of Abductees as Eid al-Adha Approaches

Yemen Monitor/Newsroom:
The Association of Mothers of Abductees held a protest vigil, expressing the suffering families face as Eid al-Adha draws near. This comes amid intensified abduction campaigns carried out by the Houthi group in Hudaidah governorate and other areas under their control. The group has abducted 13 citizens, including a university student, and taken them to an unknown location.
During the vigil, the mothers clarified that the continuation of these abductions constitutes a flagrant violation of human rights and reflects a systematic policy of oppression and restriction against citizens, without distinguishing between genders. The association also noted that this violation has increased recently, representing a dangerous decline that disregards all laws and ethics.
The association stated that it holds the Houthi group fully responsible for the lives and safety of the abductees, especially the abducted female student. It called upon the international community, human rights organizations, and women’s organizations to take urgent action to press for the immediate and unconditional release of all abductees.
The association further stated that a transparent international investigation into the serious violations suffered by civilians in Hudaidah and other governorates must be opened.
It also affirmed that silence regarding these violations, especially those targeting women, encourages the violating parties to continue their repressive policies, thereby increasing the suffering of Yemenis.
