Tariq Saleh: Major Complications Prevent Resumption of War Against Houthis

Yemen Monitor / Mocha / Exclusive:

On Monday, Member of the Presidential Leadership Council Tariq Saleh stated that there are significant complications preventing the Yemeni army and its allies from resuming combat against the armed Houthi group.

During a meeting with a group of activists on the country’s western coast, he said:

“Sometimes people ask why Sultan (referring to the governor of Marib) or the Giants Brigades are not fighting—the complications are even greater than ours, and there are major international players involved, not just Iran, but also Russia and China.”

He added that part of the battle is about resilience and keeping the discourse around the “Republic” alive.

He noted, “If there is a war, we will fight. If there isn’t, then we go back to paving roads,” referring to community development efforts.

Regarding political differences, Saleh said, “Disagreements among political forces are natural, but reaching consensus on shared goals is what truly matters,” adding, “Disputes tend to fade over time as everyone becomes aware of their responsibilities.”

Tariq Saleh also emphasized that the media plays a central role in shaping public awareness and “countering Houthi disinformation,” stressing the need for media to be impactful, purposeful, and precisely directed against the real enemy.

He also pointed to “the security stability achieved on the western coast thanks to public awareness and the efforts of security and intelligence services.”
