100 Cardiac Catheterizations Offer Hope to Patients in Taiz

Yemen Monitor/Newsroom:
The Cardiac and Vascular Center in Taiz, Yemen, has successfully performed a series of life-saving operations, funded by Qatar Charity and Qatar Red Crescent.
The medical project facilitated 403 diagnostic catheterizations and 100 therapeutic catheterizations, in addition to providing necessary medications and medical supplies, with a total cost approaching $100,000 USD.
Dr. Abu Dharr Al-Jundi, the center’s director, affirmed that this initiative is a rapid response to the plea of patients suffering from serious heart diseases.
He noted that the significant challenges the center faced since its establishment three years ago included a lack of modern equipment and high treatment costs.
Al-Jundi pointed out that previous Qatari support included providing an advanced cardiac catheterization device valued at $1 million, equipped with 3D imaging technology, which brought about a qualitative leap in the medical services offered.
For his part, Dr. Ahmed Haelan, a cardiology consultant, explained that these advanced medical procedures have saved dozens of patients from serious complications and alleviated the suffering of thousands of residents in the region served by the center.
Dr. Firas Al-Mughayzel, another consultant at the center, added that the operations included complex cases of arterial disease patients, with a focus on the most vulnerable groups, such as displaced persons and those with limited income.
Beneficiary patients expressed their deep gratitude for this humanitarian initiative. Mohammed Abdel Wahid, 58, recounted how the operation saved him from imminent danger, while Mohammed Anam, 63, a teacher, affirmed that this free service was a godsend for someone in his financial situation.
It’s worth noting that therapeutic catheterization and stent placement procedures allow patients to return home on the same day of the operation, after confirming its success and the stability of their health.
