WHO Strengthens Efforts to Combat Cholera Outbreak in Yemen

Yemen Monitor / Newsroom:

The World Health Organization (WHO) continues to intensify its efforts to combat the threat of cholera, which poses a serious risk to the health of Yemen’s population. This comes as part of its ongoing mission to curb the spread of the disease that endangers the lives of thousands of citizens.

The organization stated that, thanks to the generous support of the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center, it has been able to improve its response and deliver critical health services to areas in urgent need. In collaboration with the Ministry of Public Health and Population, WHO is providing free treatment, essential medicines, and round-the-clock medical care to patients in need.

While emphasizing that cholera remains a major threat, WHO noted that partnerships with local and international stakeholders are playing a crucial role in saving lives and strengthening resilience and capacity in health centers and communities facing dire humanitarian conditions.

This initiative reflects WHO’s ongoing commitment to supporting the Yemeni government’s efforts to enhance the quality of healthcare and reinforce health systems. It aligns with a strategic framework aimed at building a safer, more resilient future for Yemeni society in the face of ongoing health challenges.
