Yemeni Government Issues Urgent Appeal to Combat Cholera Outbreak

The Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation of the internationally recognized government in Aden has issued a global emergency appeal to combat the outbreak of cholera and related fevers in Yemen. The ministry called on all companies, investors, and international organizations to support the efforts of the Ministry of Public Health and Population, amid an unprecedented surge in cases across multiple regions.
The ministry reported that the health situation in the country has reached a critical stage, with the disease continuing to spread widely. This threatens a dramatic rise in infections due to a severe shortage of funding and essential medical resources. The statement emphasized the urgent need for medicines, medical supplies, and basic support for healthcare facilities.
The ministry noted that it would leverage all local resources to ensure rapid response and coordination with relevant authorities in the provinces. It also committed to supporting local hospitals and providing necessary supplies to manage cholera cases. Additionally, it highlighted the importance of improving water and sanitation services to prevent further spread of the infection.
The ministry expressed its intention to coordinate with international organizations to address emergency cases and stressed the urgent need for support from the international community and civil society to improve health conditions and ensure access to medicines and safe water.
