Widespread Condemnation of Houthi Ruling Imprisoning Yemeni Company Manager and Confiscating His Assets

Yemen Monitor/Newsroom:

The American Center for Justice has condemned the ruling issued by the Houthi-affiliated Specialized Criminal Court against Engineer Adnan Al-Harazi, the manager of the Yemeni company Prodigy Systems. The ruling sentenced Al-Harazi to 15 years in prison and ordered the confiscation of his funds and company assets.

The American Center for Justice considered this ruling a breach of legal principles and fair trial guarantees. The center also expressed doubt about the motives behind the judgment, especially given Al-Harazi’s continued arbitrary detention and his trial on politically motivated charges.

The center affirmed that the confiscation of private funds represents an assault on the right to property and undermines the business environment. It warned that such measures send threatening messages to the private sector and deepen the economic crisis in Yemen, leading to company closures, increased unemployment rates, and shrinking job opportunities.

The center expressed its solidarity with the family of Engineer Adnan Al-Harazi, emphasizing that their suffering should not continue in the absence of law and justice. The center stressed that these politicized judicial practices are used as a tool for political and economic blackmail.

The American Center for Justice called on the international community to pressure the Houthi group to cease its retaliatory practices and demanded the immediate release of Engineer Adnan Al-Harazi and the guarantee of his legal and human rights.
