“Netanyahu” Vows to Continue Striking Houthis Regardless of US Stance
Yemen Monitor/Newsroom:
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced that his country is prepared to carry out military operations against the Houthis in Yemen without waiting for Washington’s support, following a ceasefire agreement between the Houthis and the US.
Netanyahu’s statement came during a recorded speech posted on the “X” platform, where he affirmed that Israel “will not hesitate to defend itself alone if necessary,” indicating the continuation of military operations in distant regions, including Yemen.
He added, “The joining of allies with us is welcome, but we will not rely on anyone to protect our security.”
This comes a day after the US and the Yemeni Houthi group, through the mediation of the Sultanate of Oman, reached a ceasefire agreement between them, which does not include “Israel.”
US President Donald Trump announced yesterday, Tuesday, that he decided to stop strikes against Yemen in exchange for the Houthis’ commitment to stop targeting ships. He said, during his statements to reporters at the White House, that Washington did not reach an agreement with the Houthis, but they “surrendered” and “told us: please, stop bombing us, and we will stop targeting ships on our part.”
