Yemen Central Bank Announces Auction to Sell $30 Million

Yemen Monitor / Newsroom:

The Central Bank of Yemen in Aden announced on Wednesday that it will hold an auction to sell $30 million on May 13, 2025.

The bank specified that bids must be submitted through the Refinitiv electronic platform. For banks without access to Refinitiv, the Central Bank will submit bids on their behalf, provided that an official request is submitted to the Bank via the designated email address during the auction period.

It also stated that the total bids submitted by each participant must not exceed 30% of the total auction value. The results of the auction award will be published on the Bank’s official website on the same day.

The announcement comes amid a sharp depreciation of the Yemeni riyal, which fell to its lowest value against foreign currencies—reaching nearly 2,600 riyals per U.S. dollar in Wednesday evening trading, and 670 riyals to buy one Saudi riyal.
