Journalists’ Syndicate Demands Al-Miyahi’s Release and Holds Houthis Responsible for His Safety

Yemen Monitor/Newsroom:
The Yemeni Journalists’ Syndicate renewed its demand for the release of journalist Mohammed al-Miyahi, who has been detained since September 20th of last year.
This came after al-Miyahi’s lawyer announced his transfer from his detention location to “Habra Reserve Prison,” which is known for its strict procedures.
The Syndicate affirmed that the continued detention of al-Miyahi, especially given the difficult conditions he faces, constitutes a flagrant violation of his rights as a journalist. It pointed out that his trial before the Specialized Criminal Prosecution is an arbitrary step aimed at punishing him for his opinions.
The Syndicate also stressed that al-Miyahi’s prolonged detention without trial is a form of punishment, holding the Houthi group responsible for his safety. It affirmed that these measures reflect a clear hostility towards journalists in Yemen.
At the same time, al-Miyahi’s family is suffering difficult circumstances due to his detention, and the Syndicate demands the release of all detained journalists in the country.
