Associated Press: Houthis Shoot Down 7 US Drones Worth $200 Million Within 6 Weeks
Yemen Monitor / Newsroom:
The Associated Press, citing officials from the U.S. Department of Defense (Pentagon), reported that the Yemeni Houthi group succeeded last week in shooting down three American drones.
Officials stated that the Houthis have shot down seven American drones worth $200 million over the past six weeks.
This comes as the US launches an air campaign against the Iran-backed Houthis in several areas under their control in Yemen, including the capital Sana’a, the province of Hodeidah, and Marib.
Meanwhile, Houthi leader Abdul-Malik al-Houthi said that the group’s military operations have resulted in the complete disappearance of Israeli ships from the Red Sea, the Arabian Sea, and the Gulf of Aden.
Since March 15, the US has launched around 1,000 airstrikes on Houthi positions in Yemen, killing 217 civilians and injuring 436 others—mostly children and women—according to Houthi data that does not include casualties among their own forces.
