Rising Popular Protests in Hadramawt Cities in Eastern Yemen

Yemen Monitor / Newsroom:

The city of Mukalla and several other cities in Hadramawt witnessed escalating popular protests on Monday over the collapse of basic services, deteriorating living conditions, and rising prices of goods.

Witnesses said that dozens of residents participated in demonstrations and protest gatherings in several cities, including Ash Shihr, demanding improvements in public services and solutions to problems related to electricity, water, and the declining standard of living.

Protesters focused their demands on improving essential services and easing economic burdens amid the continuing deterioration of living conditions in the governorate.

Activists and participants urged citizens to concentrate on rights-based and service-related demands and to avoid raising political slogans, flags, or images. They emphasized that the popular mobilization aims to convey legitimate demands related to improving public services and living conditions.

These protests come at a time when many areas across Yemen are experiencing growing complaints about declining basic services and the rising cost of living.
