Jordan Condemns Hijacking of Oil Tanker Off Yemen and Affirms Solidarity With Egypt

Jordan condemned on Tuesday the hijacking of an oil tanker from Yemen’s territorial waters and its diversion to Somali territorial waters, with a number of Egyptian sailors on board, describing the incident as a “blatant violation of international law and a serious threat to the security of maritime navigation and international trade movement.”
The Jordanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates said in a statement that the Kingdom expresses its full solidarity with Egypt and the families of the abducted sailors, affirming the need to ensure their safety and work toward their release as soon as possible.
The ministry stressed the importance of respecting the rules of international law and protecting the security of maritime navigation, contributing to maintaining the stability of international trade movement and the safety of workers in the maritime sector.
