Unions and Civil Organizations in Taiz Demand Government Pay Salaries and Review Wages

Yemen Monitor / Newsroom:
Unions and civil society organizations in Taiz Governorate have demanded that the Yemeni government regularly pay the salaries of local and central government employees and reconsider the wage scale in line with the deteriorating living conditions.
This came in a memorandum issued by the Coordination Council of Unions and Civil Society Organizations in Taiz Governorate, addressed to the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Shaye’ Al-Zindani, a copy of which was reviewed by “Yemen Monitor.”
The memorandum stated that the regular payment of overdue salaries and financial entitlements, including bonuses, allowances, and reconciliations, would alleviate the suffering of employees and Yemeni families amid the difficult economic conditions the country is experiencing.
The Council pointed out that the deterioration of basic services and the rise in prices of goods and oil derivatives have directly impacted citizens’ lives and daily livelihoods, emphasizing the importance of revising the wage and salary scale in line with current economic changes.
The Council appreciated the government’s efforts to restore state institutions and improve conditions, expressing hope for further steps to enhance stability and ease the living burdens on citizens.
