PLC Member Al-Khanbashi Confirms Authorities’ Readiness to Thwart Attempts to Destabilize Hadramawt

Yemen Monitor / Newsroom:
The member of the Yemeni Presidential Leadership Council (PLC) and Governor of Hadramawt, Salem Ahmed Al-Khanbashi, confirmed the local authority’s readiness to deal with any developments targeting the stability of the governorate, asserting that there will be no leniency toward any attempts targeting the security of citizens or affecting public interests.
During an expanded meeting held today, Sunday, in the city of Mukalla—the capital of Hadramawt (eastern Yemen)—which included members of the House of Representatives and the Shura Council, along with members of the Hadramawt Consensus Body, he emphasized that the current stage requires redoubling efforts to consolidate the pillars of security and stability, as they are the fundamental basis for achieving comprehensive development and improving service levels.
This comes following the events witnessed in the city of Mukalla yesterday, Saturday, after clashes between demonstrators loyal to the dissolved Sothern Transitional Council (STC) and the security and army forces, which left casualties. The meeting discussed the latest developments in the general situation prevailing in the governorate at various levels.
Al-Khanbashi reviewed security developments in Mukalla and other districts of Hadramawt, providing a comprehensive briefing on the general situation in the governorate. He noted the ongoing communication with the PLC and brotherly nations to support the governorate’s developmental efforts and strengthen security and military aspects, in addition to following up on Hadramawt’s entitlements regarding crude oil and the fuel necessary to operate power plants.
The meeting also discussed the recent events witnessed in the governorate, the attempts to destabilize security and stability, and the measures taken by competent authorities in various security and military apparatuses to protect citizens and public and private property.
The Governor listened to interventions from the attendees, which overall expressed support for the local authority’s efforts, emphasizing the importance of everyone standing together to maintain security and stability.
The meeting approved a package of measures to raise the efficiency of the security system, foremost of which is developing the operational capabilities of the Hadrami Elite Forces and expanding their deployment. They emphasized tightening strict control over all land and sea ports and entrances to the governorate to block any attempts by disruptive elements or those lurking against the security and stability of Hadramawt to infiltrate.
Attendees stressed the need to uphold the prestige of the state and firmly apply the system and law to everyone, in parallel with addressing urgent service and social files. Discussions focused on the necessity of improving citizens’ living conditions and establishing sustainable strategies to organize the file of arrivals in a way that preserves the social and security fabric of the governorate.
The participants called for activating the role of community components as a primary partner in development and stability, emphasizing that popular awareness is the first wall of defense against challenges.
They called upon the people of Hadramawt of all affiliations to rally around the local leadership, support the military and security apparatuses in their sacred tasks, categorically reject all agendas seeking to spread chaos or disturb public peace, and stand as one rank against disruptive projects.
