Rights Network Condemns Mukalla Events and Holds Dissolved ” STC” Responsible for Escalation

Yemen Monitor / Newsroom:
The Yemeni Network for Rights and Freedoms condemned, on Sunday, the events witnessed in the Al-Sharj area and Al-Salam neighborhood in the city of Mukalla (eastern Yemen), which resulted in casualties and the intimidation of civilians.
The network stated in a release that these events reflect the “danger of sliding into violence and threatening public peace,” emphasizing that the use of weapons and the firing of live ammunition by certain individuals—including minors—toward security and military apparatuses represents dangerous and unacceptable behavior.
It added that these practices expose the lives and property of citizens to grave risks and reflect the magnitude of the challenges facing efforts to maintain security and stability in the city.
The network held the parties behind these acts, led by the “dissolved Southern Transitional Council,”(STC) fully responsible for the repercussions of the events and the resulting human and material losses, accusing them of pursuing policies of incitement and escalation that contribute to destabilizing security and disturbing public peace.
The network called on all parties to exercise restraint, prioritize the interests of citizens, and refrain from any practices that would inflame the situation, stressing the importance of adhering to the law, protecting civilians, and safeguarding rights and freedoms.
It also renewed its call to strengthen the role of community awareness and to refrain from dragging children and youth into acts of violence, warning of the dangerous effects of such actions on their present and future, as well as on the security and stability of society.
