Yemeni Emergency Forces: One Soldier Killed and 40 Injured Due to Severe Weather at Al-Wadeea Crossing

Yemen Monitor / Newsroom:
The leadership of the Yemeni government’s Emergency Forces at the Al-Wadeea crossing issued an official clarification regarding recent events in the region, following reports circulating in the media and on social platforms about the impact of the weather conditions.
The command reported that the incident at the crossing was the result of the area being hit by high winds, heavy rain, and thunderstorms. This led to the injury of 40 personnel from the armed forces working in the Al-Wadeea sector, in addition to one recorded death. Significant material damage was also reported, affecting several vehicles, hangars, and personnel housing.
The Emergency Forces leadership confirmed that the road remains open and safe for travelers, with no obstacles hindering traffic flow. At the same time, they called on social media activists to ensure accuracy, avoid exaggerating events, and rely on official sources when sharing information.
Earlier on Wednesday, a military source stated that at least one soldier had died, while approximately 40 others were injured due to flash floods and heavy rains that struck the Al-Wadeea area in northern Hadramawt Governorate, eastern Yemen.
The source explained that a violent thunderstorm swept through the border region with Saudi Arabia, leading to the washing away of several military vehicles and barracks belonging to the 3rd Emergency Division, resulting in injuries among the soldiers.
Early this morning, the Al-Wadeea crossing experienced a dense sandstorm accompanied by heavy rain, which caused flash floods to sweep through parts of the camp—specifically the temporary housing units (containers). This left behind extensive material damage amidst a state of alert at the site.
