Destruction of 926 Landmines and War Remnants in Mukalla

MASAM Project for Landmine Clearance – Yemen announced that it destroyed 926 landmines and war remnants, in cooperation with the Executive Mine Action Center, Mukalla branch.
According to a press statement by the Masam Project’s media center, the destroyed materials included various shells, mines, and rockets, as follows:
- 6 anti-tank mines
- 3 anti-personnel mines
- 25 mortar shells (82 mm)
- 75 mortar shells (81 mm)
- 105 mortar shells (60 mm)
- 55 RPG rounds
- 9 tank shells
- 12 B-10 shells
- 4 improvised explosive devices (IEDs)
- 83 fuses for anti-tank mines (T-62)
- 258 Katyusha fuses
- 253 artillery fuses (122 mm)
- 38 mortar fuses
The statement explained that today’s destruction operation is the sixth of its kind in the city of Mukalla in Hadramawt Governorate since mid-January. It confirmed that the Masam Project, which has been documenting destruction operations since the first day of its work in Yemen, is determined to continue its mission of clearing the land where it operates to ensure civilians can carry on their daily lives in a safe environment free of mines and war remnants.
It added that with this operation, the total number of mines, explosive devices, and unexploded ordnance destroyed by the project’s teams in Mukalla since January 17 has reached 12,413 items.
