Yemen and Saudi Arabia Sign Cooperation Agreement in the Youth and Sports Sector

The Yemeni Ministry of Youth and Sports signed a joint cooperation agreement on Wednesday in the Saudi capital, Riyadh, with the Saudi Program for Development and Reconstruction of Yemen to strengthen the youth and sports sector in Yemen.

The signing ceremony was attended by Yemeni Minister of Youth and Sports Nayef Al-Bakri, Deputy General Supervisor of the Saudi Program Engineer Hassan Al-Attas, Yemeni Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Dr. Afrah Al-Zouba, and Director General of Partnerships and Agreements at the Saudi Ministry of Sports Hani Mansi, who participated via video conference.

The agreement includes providing technical and advisory support to the technical and advisory committee in Yemen in order to enhance the sustainability of sports professionals, organize sports tournaments, and develop youth activities across various provinces.

It also includes cooperation in sporting events and coordination with youth and sports offices in Yemen as well as with the offices of the Saudi program at the international level.

Minister Nayef Al-Bakri affirmed that this partnership comes in line with the directives of the Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council, Dr. Rashad Mohammed Al-Alimi, aimed at strengthening international cooperation and development partnerships across different sectors.

For his part, Engineer Hassan Al-Attas stressed the importance of supporting youth and sports in Yemen because of their active role in encouraging youth engagement and participation in society. He confirmed that Saudi Arabia will continue providing technical and financial support to Yemen’s sports sector.

Meanwhile, the Minister of Planning and International Cooperation noted that this support reflects Saudi Arabia’s commitment to assisting the Yemeni government in strengthening the role of youth and developing sports programs in a way that contributes to building the capabilities of national teams.
