Yemeni Prime Minister Directs Activation of Anti-Smuggling Legislation

The Yemeni Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Shayea al-Zindani, directed relevant government agencies to activate the application of legislation related to anti-smuggling, emphasizing the need to strengthen coordination between competent authorities to curb this phenomenon.
This came during a meeting of the High Committee for Anti-Smuggling in Aden, where al-Zindani stressed the importance of doubling efforts and raising the level of coordination between various relevant parties to confront the economic and security risks associated with smuggling operations.
The meeting reviewed the measures taken to strengthen oversight at land and sea ports, in addition to deterrent measures aimed at supporting the capabilities of the competent authorities and preventing smuggling operations.
The Committee also confirmed the implementation of job rotation procedures for leaders and employees working at land and sea ports, along with taking steps to address imbalances in the operation of the ports, strengthening state authority, and improving coordination between relevant parties to ensure the efficient performance of their duties.
