Houthi Leader Congratulates Iran on the Selection of Mojtaba Khamenei as New Supreme Leader
Yemen Monitor / Newsroom:
Abdul-Malik al-Houthi, the leader of the Houthi movement in Yemen, said he congratulates the Iranian people, state institutions, and the Iranian Revolutionary Guard on the selection of Mojtaba Khamenei as the new Supreme Leader of Iran.
Al-Houthi added in a statement that the selection of Khamenei “strengthens the foundations of the Islamic Revolution and the system in Iran,” considering the step to come under what he described as exceptional circumstances.
He also expressed his group’s solidarity with Iran in confronting what he described as “American and Israeli aggression” aimed at implementing what he called the Zionist “devilish plan” to reshape the Middle East and enable “Greater Israel.”
He indicated that the selection of the new Supreme Leader represents a continuation of the leadership role within the Iranian system, expressing his wishes for success to Mojtaba Khamenei in his duties and calling for support for the Iranian people and their military institutions.
Al-Houthi affirmed that his group stands alongside Iran in facing challenges, stating that what he described as the steadfastness of the Iranian people will ultimately lead to “victory.”
On Sunday, Iran’s Assembly of Experts announced the selection of Mojtaba Khamenei as the country’s new Supreme Leader, succeeding his father Ali Khamenei, who was killed in a joint U.S.–Israeli airstrike on February 28.
