Yemeni Presidency Vows to Hold Instigators of Chaos in Aden Accountable

Yemen Monitor — Newsroom:
The state leadership, speaking through an official source in the presidency of the Yemeni Presidential Leadership Council, condemned acts of incitement, armed mobilization, and attempts to attack state institutions in the temporary capital Aden, which resulted in casualties. This came after the first meeting of the new government, which began setting priorities to improve services and strengthen living conditions in the liberated provinces.
The source explained that security forces handled the escalation “with the utmost restraint,” working to disperse gatherings that sought to block roads, incite unrest, and target security personnel while they were carrying out their duties to protect sovereign facilities and maintain public order, in accordance with the law.
He affirmed that the parties behind the financing, arming, and incitement — including pushing individuals in civilian clothing to confront security forces — bear political, moral, and legal responsibility for the casualties, warning against “gambling with the security of the capital and the interests of its residents.”
The source stressed the state’s full respect for the constitutionally guaranteed right to peaceful expression, but at the same time confirmed that any attempt to attack national institutions, disrupt their work, or use the streets to achieve illegitimate political goals will be dealt with firmly and will not be allowed to recur under any circumstances.
He noted that holding the government meeting in Aden sends a clear message of the state’s determination to restore the regular functioning of its institutions from within, establish a model of stability, and build on the efforts of allies in Saudi Arabia to normalize conditions and improve services, alongside launching rapid-impact development projects paving the way for a promising phase.
The source added that the timing of the escalation — coinciding with noticeable improvements in services and ongoing preparations for a southern conference under Saudi sponsorship — raises questions about the roles of certain regional powers seeking to obstruct national unity in confronting the threat posed by the Houthi movement militias.
He reiterated that the state, with Saudi support, will not allow Aden and the southern provinces to become arenas of chaos or platforms for implementing external agendas, and that it will continue protecting citizens and deterring any activities aimed at undermining security and stability.
He also called on citizens in Aden and the rest of the liberated provinces to cooperate with security agencies, preserve the gains achieved, and avoid being drawn into calls for chaos, emphasizing that the future of the south is built through rebuilding state institutions and promoting responsible dialogue — not by attacking or paralyzing them.
