Yemen’s Minister of Legal Affairs, Ishraq Al-Maqtari, said that today’s events in Shabwa resulted in 29 people killed and wounded during an attempt by loyalists of the dissolved Transitional Council (STC) to storm the Governorate Office building.

The minister stated in a post on her X platform that Ataq, the capital of Shabwa Governorate, witnessed bloody events that left 5 dead and 24 injured, without specifying the identity of the deceased, whether they were from the security forces or STC loyalists.

In the same context, the STC issued a statement mentioning that the dead from the Shabwa events numbered 6 people and 30 wounded, according to the statement published by STC spokesman Anwar Al-Tamimi and several of their media outlets.

Private sources reported that the guards of the Governorate Office building were subjected to a hand grenade explosion by protesters affiliated with the STC, which resulted in a number of injuries among security soldiers, while armed protesters attempted to storm the building, leading to the outbreak of clashes that left dead and wounded.

Shabwa Security Committee stated that those it described as infiltrators attempted to storm the governorate building and assault the building’s guards, leading to the outbreak of clashes and the fall of dead and wounded, vowing to pursue those involved.
