The American Center for Justice Condemns the Arrest of Lawyer Salim Allaw and Calls for His Immediate Release

Yemen Monitor / Newsroom:

The American Center for Justice (ACJ) strongly condemned, on Sunday, the arrest of lawyer Salim Allaw in the city of Marib, considering it a clear violation of freedom of opinion and expression guaranteed constitutionally and internationally.

The arrest comes against the backdrop of tweets and posts he published on the Facebook, raising deep concern about the restriction of civil liberties in Yemen.

According to the Center’s reports, lawyer Allaw has been detained for five days without being formally referred to the Public Prosecution, which violates legal guarantees for a fair trial and contravenes international human rights standards.

The Center stressed the necessity of respecting legal procedures and refraining from using detention as a means to suppress opposing voices.

The ACJ called for the immediate and unconditional release of lawyer Salim Allaw, affirming that his continued detention without legal justification constitutes a serious threat to the principles of justice and freedom of expression in Yemen. The Center emphasized that respect for human rights is the foundation of any just and stable legal system.
