Yemen Monitor / Newsroom:
The Hadramawt National Council (HNC) affirmed that the political path for Hadramawt consists of becoming a region with full powers within a federal state, or an independent Hadrami state in the event of any future political partition, emphasizing the necessity of granting Hadramawt its full rights amidst current developments.
This came during an expanded meeting held by the Council on Saturday in the city of Seiyun. The gathering was attended by official figures, political groups, dignitaries, and social leaders, along with representatives from the youth and women’s sectors, several members of the House of Representatives and the Shura Council, local authority officials from the Hadramawt Valley and Desert (Wadi and Sahara), the Board of Wise Men, and a number of sheikhs, academics, judges, and media professionals.
The Secretary-General of the Hadramawt National Council, Issam Habrish al-Kathiri, stated that Hadramawt is passing through a pivotal stage that requires unifying ranks and stances. He emphasized that the Council operates as an umbrella organization expressing the aspirations and political entitlements of the people of Hadramawt.
Al-Kathiri noted the Council’s full support for the efforts of Salem al-Khanbashi—a member of the Presidential Leadership Council, Governor of Hadramawt, and Commander of the Nation’s Shield Forces—in preparing a unified Hadrami vision for the province’s participation in the upcoming Comprehensive Dialogue Conference scheduled to be held in Riyadh.
He also expressed the gratitude of the people of Hadramawt to the Saudi leadership, praising its role in supporting the province in military, civil, and humanitarian aspects, and its continuous backing of its stability.
Al-Kathiri stressed that Hadramawt National Council includes various segments of society and is working to expand its organizational base by incorporating more Hadrami figures into its various bodies and departments.
For his part, the Undersecretary of Hadramawt Governorate for Valley and Desert Districts, Amer al-Amiri, emphasized the importance of maintaining social cohesion and unifying ranks at this stage, valuing the Hadramawt National Council’s role in representing the aspirations of the province’s people.
In turn, the Chairman of the Council’s Board of Wise Men, Abdullah Mabrouk bin Ajaj al-Nahdi, welcomed the attendees, affirming that Hadramawt deserves its full rights and that the Council will continue its efforts—with sincere support from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia—to advance the Hadrami cause and enable it to obtain its legitimate rights.
The Assistant Undersecretary of Hadramawt Governorate, Abdulhadi al-Tamimi, described the Hadramawt National Council as the political representative and the inclusive umbrella for the people of Hadramawt, calling for a unified Hadrami vision and active participation in the ongoing political changes.
This meeting comes in the context of political movement across several provinces; social and political figures from the Abyan and Shabwa governorates have held similar meetings over the past few days to discuss their political visions and reach unified positions in preparation for participation in the upcoming National Dialogue.
