Rights Organization: Detainee Dies Under Torture in Houthi Prisons

Yemen Monitor / Newsroom:
The “Ain” Organization for Human Rights revealed the death of 19-year-old Issa Mohammed Ali Al-Masoudi, from Al-Bayda Governorate, as a result of brutal torture he was subjected to in Houthi prisons in the hijacked capital, Sanaa.
In a statement issued today, the organization said that the group is still detaining around 39 civilians from the area of “Hanka Al-Masoud” (Al-Quraishiyah District – Qaifa), in addition to holding approximately 15 bodies for more than a year, following a previous Houthi attack on the area that resulted in deaths and injuries.
The statement explained that Al-Masoudi passed away on Thursday evening after suffering severe injuries and internal bleeding due to systematic abuse inside the militia’s cells. It noted that he had been transferred to intensive care in a state of complete coma days before his death.
The organization emphasized that the victim’s relatives accused the Houthis of practicing deliberate medical negligence and preventing the completion of necessary medical procedures in an attempt to erase the evidence of the crime and cover up the marks of torture.
The “Ain” Organization held the Houthi leadership fully responsible for these crimes and called on the international community to intervene immediately to secure the release of the abductees and hand over the detained bodies to their families, stressing that such grave violations do not lapse with time.
