Protests in Dhubab City Demanding Release of Detainees in Djibouti Prisons

Yemen Monitor / Taiz / Mocha:
The coastal city of Dhubab (the center of Bab al-Mandab District) in southwestern Taiz witnessed peaceful protests and popular escalation on Tuesday, organized by families and relatives of several coastal residents, demanding the release of their sons detained in Djibouti prisons. The detainees are: Anas Muhammad Thabit Ali Jamai, Nadhih Ali Muhammad Al-Anbari, Mokhtar Hussein Al-Battah, and Muhammad Ali Ali Al-Qudaimi.
The protesters directed appeals to the Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council Rashad Al-Alimi, the Ministers of Foreign Affairs and Interior, the Coast Guard Command, the Governor of Taiz Governorate, the Coast Command, and the District Director, emphasizing that the detainees had performed their national duty and carried out the directives of their official leadership.
Participants in the protests explained that, according to them, their sons have been ignored and had their salaries cut instead of being honored materially and morally. They expressed their dissatisfaction with the continued detention of their sons in Djibouti and the lack of serious steps to address their case.
The protesters pointed to what they described as unfair treatment of coastal residents compared to other citizens, stressing that they have exhausted all means of follow-up and communication with the relevant military and civilian authorities without tangible results.
The organizers of the event warned of escalating protests in the coming period if local and military authorities do not respond to their demands, primarily working to release the detainees and return them to their homeland.
